Time to say ‘Good-Bye’ to Wrinkles!
As one ages, facial lines and wrinkles occur and deepen. This is especially true on the forehead and around the eyes and the mouth. Contributors to wrinkles include sun damage, smoking and repeated contractions of underlying facial muscles.
What is Botox?
Botox is a drug made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox can cause a life-threatening type of food poisoning called botulism, but in small doses, it can also be used therapeutically, to treat neurological disorders or reduce signs of aging. It does this by relaxing the facial muscles, which smooths wrinkles, and minimizes crow’s feet, and frown and brow lines. The FDA has approved Botox Cosmetic as a safe and effective treatment for wrinkles and frown lines.
What is a Botox Cosmetic treatment like?
Dr. Joan Greco can administer simple, nonsurgical Botox treatments in less than fifteen minutes with minimal discomfort. Some patients may experience redness at the injection site for a brief period or minimal bruising, though this is rare.
Because no sedation or local anesthetic is required, normal activities can be resumed immediately, including driving yourself home or back to the office. The results of Botox treatments, though temporary, should last three to four months or more.
