Facelifts

Gravity, sun exposure, genes and the natural aging process can lead to the loss of facial tissue elasticity. When this happens, jowls, loose skin and muscles around the neck develop, as does an accumulation of fat under the jawline and in the neck. The purpose of a facelift is to remove excess skin and tighten these sagging facial and neck muscles.

Dr. Greco performs comprehensive facelifts to correct these conditions. Facelifts can be done any time after signs of aging appear. They can also be done in conjunction with other surgeries including eyelid surgery, forehead lifts or chin augmentation.

Preoperative instructions may include antibiotics to prevent infection as well as the elimination of specific aspirin-containing drugs to minimize excess bleeding. Premedication is administered prior to the procedure to insure relaxation. Depending on the various procedures are performed, the procedure can take up to five hours.

After surgery, bandages are applied to the surgical areas and pain, though moderate, will be controlled with oral medications. There may be some swelling and discoloration, but these should lessen within two weeks.

Dr. Greco will remove your sutures within five to ten days. Tightness in your face could be present for several weeks and there may be slight changes in your hair pattern around the incision. ?If there is any scaring, it should fade quickly.

Avoid the sun for several weeks after surgery. Healing is gradual so you will not notice the final results for up to 6 months. In most cases, a single procedure achieves the desired results.
